» Golden Gate Transit Service Area
Golden Gate Transit (GGT) provides regional fixed-route bus service in San Francisco and Marin and Sonoma counties. Limited service is also available between San Rafael in central Marin and the El Cerrito del Norte BART Station in western Contra Costa County. Limited local service is provided within Marin County under a contract with the Marin County Transit District.

Golden Gate Ferry (GGF) operates frequent ferry service between San Francisco and Larkspur in central Marin County, and between San Francisco and Sausalito in southern Marin County.

» Types of Service - Golden Gate Transit and Golden Gate Ferry
Intercounty Bus Service is service between counties, including Basic and Commute bus routes.
Basic Service: Provide daily service throughout the day and evening between San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma and Contra Costa counties. Basic service includes Routes 10, 40, 42, 70 and 80.
Commute Service: Provide commute period service, mornings and evenings, Monday through Friday except holidays, between San Francisco, Marin and Sonoma counties. Commute service includes Routes 2, 4, 8, 9, 18, 24, 26, 27, 38, 44, 54, 56, 58, 60, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 93 and 97. Route 91 operates between the San Rafael Transit Center and the Larkspur Ferry Terminal during middays on weekdays except holidays.
Local travel within San Francisco is permitted to or from the Golden Gate Bridge and The Presidio only via bus stops located at the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza and on Richardson Ave at Francisco St.
Marin County Local Service (Routes 17, 19, 22, 23, 29, 35, 36, 45, 49, 51, 52, 71) is provided within Marin County on weekdays with limited weekend service under contract with Marin Transit. Marin County Local Service on School Days Only (Routes 107, 113, 115, 117, 123, 125, 126, 127, 139, 143, 153) provides limited service on school days within Marin County, as provided under contract with Marin Transit or with school districts.
Paratransit Service: GGT provides intercounty (across county lines) paratransit service through most of GGT's service area. This service, operated by Whistlestop Wheels, complements GGT's regular intercounty non-commute, off-peak bus service. Details can be found in the Intercounty Paratransit Handbook.
49ers Bus Service: Golden Gate Transit also offers special express bus service to 49ers games at Monster Park at Candlestick Point from the Larkspur Ferry Terminal, the Town of Sonoma and Santa Rosa.
»Types of Service - Golden Gate Ferry
Ferry Routes provide daily service (except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days) between Sausalito or Larkspur in Marin County and San Francisco, at varying intervals of 15 to 120 minutes, depending on the time of day and the day of the week
Special Services: Special service is provided to Giants home games, various concerts and the Bay to Breakers Race.

Golden Gate Transit bus services operate daily, with reduced service on weekends and on specific holidays.
Golden Gate Ferry provides weekday service with reduced service on weekends and specific holidays. Ferries DO NOT operate Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days.
